Common Queries About Our Cosmetic Treatments

BOTOX

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?

Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your health care provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.

Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injection, your physician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Side effects associated with the injection include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising.

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of the “11s,” the moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.

When will I see results from a BOTOX® cosmetic treatment?

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4 months. Individual results may vary.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions after treatment with BOTOX®?

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

Chemical Peels

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a noninvasive, exfoliating treatment that relies on fruit acids, herbs, and antioxidants to loosen the “glue” that binds dead cells to the skin’s surface. It increases the production of collagen, improves the appearance of acne, rosacea, environmental damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scarring. The result is smoother, tighter, more hydrated skin, ultimately leaving you with a clearer, more youthful complexion.

What skin conditions can be treated with a chemical peel?

Acne and acne scarring, rosacea, environmental damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Laser Hair Removal

How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

Our laser hair removal technology destroys hairs that are in the active growth phase, so repeat treatments will be needed to target hair that was not affected at the time of previous laser hair removal treatments. Normally, six laser hair removal treatments are recommended to get the optimum results.

What are the side effects of laser hair removal?

The energies used by Abeo MedSpa (electrical and light) are both commonly used in a range of medical and cosmetic procedures that have proven to be safe. Most people experience no side effects at all, though few exhibit some short-term local reddening of the surrounding skin. You can return to your regular activities immediately after laser hair removal treatment, although it is advisable to keep the skin protected from exposure to direct sunlight for a short period of time.

What does laser hair removal feel like?

Each pulse, which lasts less than a second, produces a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a quick, light pinch.

What happens if I miss my Zerona®appointment?

It is not recommended that you miss an appointment. Prior to starting the Zerona® treatment, it is important that you are committed to the recommended lifestyle protocol which includes at least 6 treatments, every other day for 40 minutes and not to exceed 72 hours between treatments. If more than 72 hours intervenes, some of the fat may be uptaken by the fat cells again.

What results can I expect from laser hair removal?

At the end of the laser hair removal treatment program, you can expect your skin to remain smooth.

Laser Skin Tightening

Is laser skin tightening safe?

Laser skin tightening is a safe and painless way to rejuvenate the appearance of skin in any area of the body. Unlike other treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing, that promote the growth of new skin by removing superficial layers of the patient’s skin, laser skin tightening does not burn or break the skin. Patients who undergo skin tightening experience very few side effects, and these are most often minor inconveniences in the form of redness or minimal and temporary swelling.

What are the advantages of laser skin tightening?

Laser skin tightening is rapidly becoming a very popular cosmetic dermatology procedure for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other effects of skin laxity. Skin tightening is increasing in popularity because it is less invasive than other rejuvenating procedures, such as facelift and body lift procedures, it produces dramatically firmer skin, and it can be used on any area of the body.

Added benefits of laser skin tightening are the reduced risk of side effects and the lack of downtime following treatment.

What are the side effects associated with laser skin tightening?

The normal side effects of a laser skin tightening procedure may include redness and swelling and should recede within a couple of days. In rare cases, patients experience bruising and blistering, and some patients experience changes in pigmentation of treated areas. Again, these side effects are very rare. The average skin tightening patient can expect only moderate redness and possible swelling during laser skin tightening recovery and will be able to resume his or her lifestyle immediately.

What does laser skin tightening treatment feel like?

During treatment, your laser practitioner will use a small handpiece to apply quick pulses of laser light to your skin. Patients may feel a gradual warming sensation at the treatment area and could feel brief discomfort which is often described as similar to the sensation caused by a snapping rubber band on the skin. Most patients comment that the discomfort they feel during laser skin tightening is minimal, and it is usually resolved within minutes of the procedure’s completion.

What is the difference between laser skin tightening and laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin tightening often produces less immediate and dramatic changes than laser skin resurfacing, but it also poses far fewer risks, discomfort, and downtime for patients. During laser skin tightening, a laser is used to heat the collagen under the surface of the skin, causing the collagen to expand and the skin to appear tighter. Laser skin resurfacing uses lasers to remove the outer layers of skin to promote the growth of new, healthier skin. Because laser skin resurfacing actually removes the top layers of skin, it can be used to treat a broader range of cosmetic issues than laser skin tightening, such as wrinkles, age or sun spots, acne marks, and other facial scarring.

LATISSE®

How soon will I see results after being treated with LATISSE®?

LATISSE® users may start to see longer lashes at 4 weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks. The growth is gradual over time.

Is LATISSE® effective?

The LATISSE® clinical study was conducted at 16 sites across the country and included 278 participants, featuring women and men of various ages (22 to 78), backgrounds, and eye colors. Throughout the 16-week treatments, each participant was photographed and evaluated at 4-week intervals (week 0 to week 16) for differences in their overall lash prominence, including elements of length, thickness, and fullness. At 16 weeks, the results showed that LATISSE®was effective for 78% of those participating versus 18% for the vehicle group. Vehicle is the same as LATISSE®, without its active ingredient.

What are the possible side effects of LATISSE®?

The most common side effects after using LATISSE® solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients. LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids.

If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician's advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE® solution.

What is LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03%?

LATISSE® solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker.

Microdermabrasion

What are microdermabrasion treatments?

Micro-crystals are vacuumed through a delicate handpiece, which is held at a precise angle to the skin, producing a skin-polishing peel. In as little as 20-30 minutes, this gentle abrasive technique efficiently produces satisfying results. Treatments are applied through a course of weekly microdermabrasion sessions. Microdermabrasion enhances the skin’s condition by stimulating collagen production and does what no other available nonsurgical treatment can do in combating the signs of aging skin. Most importantly, microdermabrasion is safe to use on all skin types and colors.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a scientific method, using fine, inert (micro) crystals to progressively abrade the skin's surface. It is used for skin resurfacing and treating a range of skin abnormalities. Microdermabrasion has been used in Europe for years; now this exciting procedure is helping men and women in the United States experience remarkable improvements in their skin texture, regardless of skin color.

With our microdermabrasion skin treatment program, you can see immediate improvements in your skin's appearance. This unique approach removes dead and flaking skin cells and stimulates the production of fresh, young skin cells and collagen.

What results can I expect from microdermabrasion?

Depending on the area treated, you will notice an improvement in your skin's appearance after your microdermabrasion treatment. Stretch marks and acne scars will be less obvious. Age spots and fine lines are reduced, and many Microdermabrasion clients report that their skin seems softer, tighter, smoother, and younger looking.
